The Boer Goat is a hardy meat goat, that was developed in South Africa. Traditionally, the Boer goat has a white body and a dark head. The goat is pigmented throughout the body, grows quickly and carries a lot of meat.
The Kalahari Red goat is another breed that was developed in South Africa, by selection. The Kalahari Red is very similar to the Boer goat in size, but has some slight variances in body size and shape. The Herd Book begins.
The Savanna is what some call the white Boer goat. Very similar to the Boer with variances in the breed standard, the Savanna is a large footed, large framed and hardy meat goat with dark pigmented skin.
